【工人プロフィール】
小笠原義雄（遠刈田系）
1952年より遠刈田緑川木工所で5年間、木地修行を行う
1960年より職人として遠刈田、白石、仙台にて活動
1965年に独立後、朝倉英次の指導を受けて伝統こけしの描彩を始める
師匠は朝倉英次

This is a Ireko kokeshi doll, by Yoshio OGASAWARA (1936-) who is a Togatta style kokeshi craftsman in Tohoku, Japan.
Ireko means some product is inside the main body. A spinning top is enclosed in this kokeshi.

Ogasawara said that this guy is Daikoku-sama who is one of the Shich Fuku-jin, which is seven lucky gods in Japan. Daikoku is the god of financial luck.

The vessel express that he is enjoying Sake, which is Japanese rice wine.
In our image, Japanese gods love Sake and partying.
Usually, Daikoku-sama is drawn with Uchideno-koduchi, which is a magic mallet that gives us anything that to grant a wish. But Ogasawara made him a with fun appearance in a simple folk image.

Sama is a honorific title in Japan.
