仙台市作並こけしの平賀輝幸工人から届いた雛こけしです。
広い裾に描かれた、作並伝統こけしのカニ菊模様がとても優雅なお雛様です。

1972年旧宮城町(現仙台市)出身
1987年より祖父・謙次郎、父・謙一に師事し、現在に至る
2014年第56回全日本こけしコンクール　内閣総理大臣賞受賞
平賀こけし店4代目、作並こけし8代目

This is a couple of Hina kokeshi dolls, by HIRAGA Teruyuki who is a Sakunami style kokeshi craftsman.

Hina dolls are put out on the every 3rd of March for the Hinamatsuri, which is a day to pray for the healthy growth of girls.
In the lunar calendar, around the 3rd of March is the time that the peach flower begins to bloom. From ancient times, peaches were said to be a fortunate food in Japan. The fruits protect you from bad luck. So, March 3rd and the timing of the good luck peach were put together as one. Thus Hinamatsuri is also called 'momono sekku' in Japan. (Momo is peach and Sekku is period in Japanese.)
