At age 20, he began working as a craftsman in Sendai. This is a Onsen-hot spring ejiko kokeshi, which was made by Yoshio Ogasawara who is a Togatta style kokeshi craftsman in Tohoku, Japan. Almost all kokeshi’s home towns are famous hot spring area in Japan. So kokeshi dolls must like Onsen-hot springs. The dot patterned towel on this kokeshi’s head is called Mame Shibori.
